Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority Mission: To enhance the long-term economic vitality and quality of life in Schenectady County by cooperative, purposeful actions and investments within the Metroplex corridor with particular emphasis on downtown. Metroplex is a unique funding mechanism that has no regional comparison. Legislation established the authority in 1998 as a public benefit corporation. The enabling statue allows the Authority to design, plan, finance, site, construct, administer, operate, manage and maintain facilities within its service district. The Metroplex Strategic Planning committee established three criteria to guide Metroplex projects and efforts: expanding the county’s property tax base; expanding the sales tax base; and creating and retaining jobs.
