SURA
was created pursuant to New York General Municipal Law
Article 15B, in order to accomplish the purposes
specified in Articles 15 and 15A of the NY General
Municipal law (principally urban redevelopment and
economic development).
Mission :
The Agency is established with the mission of promoting
the expeditious undertaking, financing and completion of
Municipal Urban Renewal Programs, pursuant to Article
15B of the General Municipal Law of the State of New
York.
Mayor
Gary McCarthy is the Chairman and a voting member of the Schenectady
Urban Renewal Agency. Other voting members are the seated
City Council members:
