About
The City of Schenectady Purchasing Department is responsible for the procurement of goods and services used in the running of the City Government. We purchase everything from road materials to equipment to office supplies to janitorial supplies to specialized services, and everything in between. We use a competitive bidding process which enables us to provide the best value for the citizens we serve.

We encourage qualified businesses and individuals to bid for the
products and services we need, and we utilize the Empire State Bid
Network and The Daily Gazette to advertise upcoming bid opportunities.
In partnership with other governmental agencies the City of Schenectady is a participant in the Empire State Purchasing Group, an e-Procurement system. The Empire State Purchasing Group is a centralized web based system that provides a single point of contact and broader access to new business opportunities throughout New York.
