SCHENECTADY –Mayor Gary McCarthy announced that yard waste pick up will be extended through the first and second week of December due to recent weather changes. Yard waste includes grass clippings, leaves, and plant materials.
“Residents are encouraged to leave out any uncollected yard waste this week and next week to be picked up before the end of the season,” said Mayor McCarthy. “Due to the early snowfall we experienced this year and relatively warmer weather more recently, we are extending this service for Schenectady residents.”
Yard waste should be placed in 30 gallon brown bio-degradable paper bags. Plastic bags of yard waste will not be collected. Yard waste will not be picked up if it contains dirt, rocks, animal feces, or construction and demolition material.
