Francis Avenue Bridge Closed for Construction March 14 – August 1
SCHENECTADY – Mayor Gary McCarthy announced the City of Schenectady will host a community meeting to discuss the upcoming Francis Avenue bridge closure. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 6:30pm at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady, 104 Education Drive, Schenectady, NY 12303.
In 2018, the City of Schenectady was awarded $3.2 million for the Francis Avenue bridge over I-890 through the New York State Department of Transportation’s (DOT) competitive Bridge NY program. The project was bid and awarded to Tioga Construction and includes the replacement of the concrete deck, new sidewalks, and improved lighting.
The bridge will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic beginning March 14, 2022. The estimated project completion date is August 1, 2022. The City of Schenectady is coordinating with the Schenectady City School District and neighborhood groups to minimize any inconvenience to the community and expedite completion of the project.
The City of Schenectady Engineering Department and project consultants will be present at the community meeting to discuss the upcoming project and answer any questions from the members of the community.
